Cupid and Psyche

Unit: Cupid and Psyche

A women was kidnapped on her wedding day and taken by a group of men. She is very frightened and does not know what to do. She will not stop weeping so an older women comes to talk to her. The women is curious as to why she will not stop her weeping and gets frustrated so she ends up asking why she cannot stop. The women confesses that she was supposed to marry the love of her life that day but she ended up getting kidnapped. So the women, trying to comfort her, starts telling her a story. Its the story of Cupid and Psyche. 

This women, Psyche, is the most beautiful women there ever was. People would come from all different places just to see her beauty. Everyone had never seen someone as beautiful as she was and everyone gathered to see her beauty. But this made some other people very jealous. Many Gods were not being recognized for their beauty anymore. So Venus called upon her son cupid to make sure that no one would ever love Psyche. And Psyche was very sad and confused by this she had all the beauty but no one wished to marry her. Her father was also very sad and confused for his daughter so he went to talk to the Gods. But the Gods told him that his daughter would never have children and would only be loved by someone very evil. 

Psyche came upon a large divine castle. Everything about the castle was extravagant and beautiful. Psyche was wowed by all the beautiful things the castle had to offer and examined it all. Her husband came into bed that night and made her his wife. She only knew him by the sound of his voice and the feel of his touch. He wanted her that her sister would weep to see her but she had to resist and she agreed but when it came to the time she could not let it go. She was finally reunited with her sisters but they could not help but question her over all the nice things she owned. Her sisters were so jealous they wanted to murder Psyche. Her husband warned her that her sisters would try to harm her but she did not listen. she told her sisters she had never seen her husband and they got mad and left her in the middle of nowhere. She woke the nest morning to see her husband and was taken back by the beauty she saw in him. He woke and ran away from her.
